How do I join or form a team?
If you haven't registered for the Race yet, you can click here to register online and select "Form a Team" or "Join a Team." Search for the name of the team you want to join and select it. If you are already registered for the Race, you need to contact the Race Teams committee if you want to form or join a team.
One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?
Thank you for registering for the Race. In order to change your registration from individual to team member, please send an email to teams@komenamarillo.org with the individual's name and the team name they'd like to be added to.
What is a Team Page?
Your Team page is a Web page that people can visit to find a team member or give a donation that supports the fundraising efforts of the entire team. Although the default Team page contains sample text and photos, your Team Captain can customize this page to make it a creative expression of the Team commitment to Komen and our fight against breast cancer.
What is the deadline to form a team?
The deadline to form and register team members is September 16.
If I belong to a team, where can I pick up my t-shirt and race bib? It will be your team captain’s responsibility to pick up all of your team’s materials at Amarillo National Bank, Plaza II on Thursday, September 22 from 11:00am to 6:00pm and Friday, September 23 from 11:00am to 6:00pm. If the team captain is unable to pick up the team materials during one of the above times, he/she should assign a representative to pick up the materials. It is the responsibility of the team captain to then distribute the shirts, bibs, and timing chips to all team members. Also please remind your team members that their bib is their entry ticket into the EXPO (which will open at 8:00 am on race day).
Can we get t-shirt sizes for our team members? We will provide you with a list of online registrants, along with t-shirt sizes, when you come to the pick up.
What if someone wants to be on a team but can’t come to the race? Team members are welcome to “Sleep in for the Cure” if they are not able to attend the race. They will still need to register online and they will be counted in the total team count.
What if we don’t have any serious “runners”? The Greater Amarillo Race for the Cure is a walker-friendly race. We encourage you to walk in the 5K Untimed Jog/Fun Walk or the 1 Mile Family Fun Stroll. Walking the 5K will take about 45 minutes to an hour and walking the 1 mile will take about 15 to 20 minutes.
Does everyone on the team have to do the same race? No, individual team members can sign up for whatever race they choose. They are also welcome to participate in multiple races, even though they have signed up for just one. Does everyone on the team have to walk or run together for the entire race? NO. You are welcome to do so but you do not have to participate as a group on the course. There is however a team award for best team t-shirt so we encourage teams to get excited and get creative. Also, if you are planning to meet as a group on race day, please plan a meeting location with your team so as to avoid any confusion on the morning of the race.
How do I change my team name, team division or team goal?
Only the team captain has the ability to change the team name or team division. The team captain will need to login to his/her participant center and click the "My Team Progress" button on the top right. On the Team Progress Page, team captains will have the ability to update the team name, division and goal.
How can I see who is on my team?
Login to the site using your Username and Password. Go to your Participant Center and click the "team progress" tab; this will allow you to view your team roster and the amounts raised by each team member.
What is a team message?
Simply go to your Participant Center and click the "Update Message to Team" button. This will allow you to make all necessary changes to your team message.
