Race Information

Whose Life Are You Running For?  Participate in the 24th Annual Susan G. Komen Greater Amarillo Race for the Cure® and show everyone whose life you are running for. Are you running for your mother, your sister, a co-worker, a friend? Are you running for your own life? Or are you running for the future? No matter whose life you are running for, now is the time to get involved and run for their life!

4th and Polk Street, Downtown Amarillo

The cost to register for any event at the Race is only $30.00 for each participant.  Children under the age of 12 may register for Kids for the Cure at the cost of $20.00.

All funds from the Komen Race for the Cure go to research, education, screening and treatment programs.

Register online, or paper registration will be available in mid-July.  

We want 6,000 participants at the 2014 Race, so start recruiting your team now! We plan to raise more funds than we did last year with this event and we need your help to reach our goal!

7:00am - Survivor Breakfast Begins
8:00am - 5K Competitive
8:00am - EXPO/Kids for the Cure Corner opens
8:45am - Survivor Photo & Parade
9:00am - Awards and Closing Ceremonies
9:15am - 5K Fun Run/ Walk, 1 Mile Fun Run/ Walk

Race Options

There are two options for participants wishing to walk or run in the Race for the Cure.

5K Competitive run: This event will be chip timed by the Lone Star Runners Club and is intended for competitive runners. Only the first 45 minutes will be timed. Results will be posted in the Awards Tent at the EXPO.
5K Fun Run/Walk, 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk: Can’t see yourself running in the competitive event? Then this event is for you! Walk or Run this 5K or 1 Mile event and enjoy scenic Polk Street at your own pace. Self timing clock provided.

A Tribute to Breast Cancer Survivors

Breast cancer survivors who wish to be recognized may pick up their complimentary pink cap provided by Zeta Tau Alpha during registration in Amarillo National Bank, Plaza II. The Pink Café will open at 7:00am. Survivor activities include a continental breakfast, group photo and recognition ceremony. We would also like to invite participants to recognize those special people who have been touched by breast cancer. "In Memory of" and "In Celebration of" back signs will be available for all Race participants.

Visit the Race EXPO

Visit exhibits, enjoy a variety of entertainment, and get product samples and breast cancer educational materials from our Race sponsors in our Race EXPO.

PLEASE NOTE: The EXPO will open at 8:00am. We ask that your kindly show your Race bib for EXPO participation.

Safety: Strollers, Pets and Wheels

Pets are strongly discouraged at Race for the Cure.
For the safety of all participants we discourage the use of inline skates and recreational scooters.
We ask participants with strollers to line up behind runners so that they can enter the course first.
